Beginning with the 1987 model year two vendors, Prince and T.R.W., are used to supply the electronic compass/thermometer modules in the overhead consoles. Both systems function essentially the same, with minor differences in calibration procedures and diagnostics. The specific applications are:

NOTE: THIS BULLETIN CONTAINS THE CALIBRATION AND VARIATION SETTING PROCEDURES FOR BOTH UNITS; THE DIAGNOSTICS FOR THE PRINCE UNIT, AND THE DEGAUSSING PROCEDURES FOR THE VEHICLE ROOF PANEL, AND RELATED MOUNTING HARDWARE ARE ALSO COVERED. REVISED SERVICE MANUAL PAGES ARE ALSO INCLUDED TO REFLECT THESE PROCEDURES.
It is important that the procedures outlined in this bulletin be followed BEFORE ANY of the compass or temperature components are replaced. Failure to do so may result in the unnecessary replacement of parts and customer dissatisfaction.
