Canister Purge Solenoid: Description and Operation
The charcoal canister purge control solenoid is operated by the logic module. When engine temperature is below a predetermined value, the logic module or SMEC completes the purge solenoid ground circuit, the solenoid is energized and purge vacuum is prevented from being applied to the canister. When engine temperature is above a predetermined value, the solenoid is de-energized and purge vacuum is applied from the port on the throttle body.
