DR-15A Fault Codes 41 or 41-47 Alternator Field
*** UPDATED BY TSB #18-62-86
1. Connect a voltmeter to battery, then connect a jumper wire to a good engine ground.
2. Start engine and note voltmeter reading.
3. Momentarily contact jumper wire connected to engine ground to alternator F2 terminal and note voltmeter reading.
NOTE: The alternator field terminals (F1 and F2) of the engine wiring harness are interchangeable. Therefore, it will be necessary to identify which one F1 (ignition switch feed) and which one is F2 (field control to the power module) before performing the test.
4. If voltmeter shows an increase in voltage when jumper wire is contacted, proceed to step B.
5. If voltage does not increase, proceed to step F.
