SYMPTOM/CONDITION

Customer complaints of inoperative windshield washer systems after the reservoir has been run completely dry and then refilled can be caused by an "air-lock" in the system.

DIAGNOSIS

Disconnect reservoir washer hose from T-connector and operate pump. If the system begins to operate normally, the "air-lock" condition is verified.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

The repair will consist of removing and discarding pump filter.

1. Remove reservoir assembly (see appropriate service manual).

2. Remove pump from reservoir by using a twisting-pulling motion.

3. Remove and discard pump filter.

4. Inspect and seat the grommet properly in the pump hole.

5. Orient pump to the recess in the reservoir and snap securely into place.

6. Replace reservoir and verify proper operation.
