REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
2. On all models exc. 1985 - 88 Lancer and LeBaron GTS, mark position of camber adjusting cam for proper alignment during installation.
3. On all models, remove cam bolt, knuckle bolt or bolts, washer plate and brake hose to damper bracket attaching screw.
4. Remove strut damper to fender shield attaching nut and washer assemblies.
5. Remove strut damper from vehicle.

REMOVAL
1. Raise and support vehicle, then remove front wheels.
2. On 1985 - 88 Lancer and LeBaron GTS, mark outline of strut on knuckle for proper alignment during installation.
3. On all models, remove cam bolt, knuckle bolt or bolts, washer plate and brake hose to damper bracket attaching screw. On 1985 Lancer and LeBaron GTS, discard one knuckle bolt and washer plate.
4. Remove strut damper to fender shield attaching nut and washer assemblies.
5. Remove strut damper from vehicle.



INSTALLATION
1. Position strut assembly into fender reinforcement, then install retaining nuts and washers and torque to 20 ft. lbs.
2. Position steering knuckle and washer plate to strut, then install upper cam and lower through bolts.
3. Install brake hose retainer on damper, then index alignment marks made during removal.
4. Position a 4 inch or larger C-clamp on steering knuckle and strut, then tighten clamp just enough to eliminate any looseness between strut and knuckle. Check alignment of marks made during removal. On all 1982 - 83 models and 1984 - 87 Charger, Horizon, Omni and Turismo, torque cam bolt nuts to 45 ft. lbs., then advance nuts an additional 1/4 turn.
5. Remove C-clamp, then install wheel and tire assembly.




INSTALLATION
1. Position strut assembly into fender reinforcement, then install retaining nuts and washers and torque to 20 ft. lbs.
2. Position steering knuckle and washer plate to strut, then install upper cam and lower through bolts. On 1985 Lancer and LeBaron GTS, replace one knuckle bolt with a new cam bolt.
3. Install brake hose retainer on damper, then index alignment marks made during removal.
4. Position a 4 inch or larger C-clamp on steering knuckle and strut, then tighten clamp just enough to eliminate any looseness between strut and knuckle. Check alignment of marks made during removal.
5. Remove C-clamp, then install wheel and tire assembly.
