Knock Sensor: Description and Operation

The detonation sensor generates a signal when spark knock occurs. It is mounted on the intake manifold in a position where detonation in each cylinder can be detected. The logic module or SMEC uses information from the knock sensor to modify spark advance and boost schedules to eliminate detonation.
