Recall - VECI Label Correction: Overview
90chrysler11No. 462
June, 1990
To: All California Chrysler-Plymouth and Dodge Dealers
Subject: California Emissions Recall #462--VECI Label Correction
Models: 1986 and 1987 Model Year Passenger Cars Equipped With 2.2L and 2.5L Fuel Injected Engines and California Emissions Systems -- 1987 Model Year Vehicles Built After December 31, 1986 are excluded.
The vehicles listed above require installation of a correction label over a portion of the current Vehicle Emission Control Information (VECI) label. The emission control component identification section of the VECI label inaccurately displays 'AIV' -- indicating a vehicle equipped with an air injection valve.
Correction labels and recall completion labels will be mailed directly to owners. The owners are requested to install the labels themselves or, if preferred, to arrange for dealer installation of the owner supplied labels without charge.
Details of this service action are explained in the following sections.
Vehicle List
Each dealer to whom involved cars were invoiced (or the current dealer at the same location) will receive a vehicle list with this letter arranged in Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) sequence. Owners known to Chrysler are also listed. The lists are for dealer reference in arranging for service of involved cars as needed.
Each California Dodge or Chrysler-Plymouth dealer without a Vehicle List will receive an information copy of this letter by Compak Mail for use in performing the service on involved cars upon request.
Recall Completion Label Requirement
There is a California Air Resources Board requirement to affix a label to the vehicle to certify that the emissions recall was completed. A completion label is being mailed to each involved owner. Refer to the Service Procedure of this letter for application instructions as necessary.
