SAFETY RECALL -- FUEL REGULATOR HOSE

Dear Chrysler Motors Vehicle Owner:

This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor

Vehicle Safety Act.

Chrysler Motors has determined that a defect which relates to motor vehicle safety exists in 1985, 1986 and 1987 model passenger cars equipped with the 2.2L turbo-charged engine. Fuel leakage may occur at an engine fuel hose.

Your car, whose Vehicle Identification Number is shown on the enclosed form, is one of the affected vehicles. For this reason we ask that you arrange for corrective service by your dealer as soon as possible. This service will be provided free of charge.

The potential for fuel leakage is affected by cold temperatures. Therefore, vehicle owners located in cold climate areas are especially urged to obtain the service without delay. If you notice fuel odor or any sign of a fuel leak from the engine of your car, please contact your dealer immediately for the repair.

The repair involves replacement of a short engine compartment hose connecting the fuel pressure regulator and the fuel rail. Leakage can occur at the ends of this hose if it becomes stiff due to cold temperatures and aging of the hose material. If this happens, leaking fuel may result in an engine compartment fire which could be hazardous to vehicle occupants. Your dealer will install a longer, more flexible hose to correct the condition.

The repair can be completed in about one half hour. To obtain this free service:

^ Contact your dealer as soon as possible to schedule an appointment. We ask that you call the dealer who sold you the car if convenient. However, if necessary, the service can be performed by any Dodge or Chrysler-Plymouth dealer.

^ Take the enclosed Owner Recall Notification Form with you at the time of your appointment and give it to your dealer. The form identifies the vehicle and recall for which service is required.

If you have any problem obtaining the needed service, please contact the Chrysler Zone Office in your area. (It is listed under "Service Assistance" in your Operator's Manual.) A Zone representative will arrange for prompt servicing of your car.

We regret any inconveience which this action may cause you. However, we believe that you understand our concern for motor vehicle safety, and for your continued satisfaction with our products. If your dealer fails or is unable to remedy this defect without charge within a reasonable time, you may submit a written complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, Washington, D.C. 20590, or call the Toll Free Number 1-800-424-9393.

Thank you for your attention to this important matter.
