Fuel Reservoir: Description and Operation

The fuel reservoir is located in the fuel tank and houses the fuel pump. The reservoir provides fuel at the pump intake under all driving conditions. The fuel return line directs fuel to a container on the side of the reservoir. The flow of fuel into this container creates a low pressure area and causes additional fuel from the main tank to flow into the reservoir. This combination of return fuel and fuel from the main tank maintains a full fuel condition in the reservoir even if fuel level is below the reservoir walls.
