This system uses either a ported or manifold vacuum controlled back pressure EGR valve to modulate exhaust gas flow from the exhaust manifold to the intake manifold. EGR flow is further controlled by a back pressure transducer in the EGR signal line. The transducer uses exhaust system back pressure to control EGR valve signal vacuum, bleeding the signal vacuum off to atmosphere when exhaust back pressure at the EGR valve drops below a calibrated value.
