SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Sags on acceleration in cold ambient temperatures during engine warm-up. This will not occur immediately following a cold start.
DIAGNOSIS
Driveability Test Procedures should be performed to verify proper operation of all components. If condition still exists, proceed as follows:

Must be ordered separately:
3/8" Vacuum Hose - 50 Foot Bulk Roll PN 4203421
REPAIR PROCEDURE
This procedure involves installing a vacuum hose filter in the canister purge vacuum line. This will dampen the purge when the engine has warmed up to the point where the purge system starts operating.
FIGURE 1:
FIGURE 2:
1. In order to obtain access to the purge vacuum line, the fuel reservoir and bracket (if so equipped) must be removed from the carburetor air horn studs. After removing the air cleaner, disconnect the fuel supply hose from the reservoir to the carburetor at the carburetor inlet. Then disconnect the fuel supply hose from the fuel supply tube to the reservoir inlet at the fuel supply tube (Figure 1). Lift the reservoir and bracket from the carburetor air horn studs and carefully set aside so as not to pinch or tear the fuel hoses attached to the reservoir.
NOTE: AS OF THIS WRITING THERE EXISTS THE PROBABILITY OF A FUEL PRESSURE REGULATOR INSTALLED IN PLACE OF, AND AT THE SAME LOCATION AS, THE FUEL RESERVOIR IN LATE 1987 "L" BODY VEHICLES. IN THESE VEHICLES, THE SAME REMOVAL PROCEDURE AS THAT FOR THE RESERVOIR SHOULD BE USED.
ON THOSE VEHICLES WITHOUT A FUEL RESERVOIR (OR REGULATOR), THE FUEL SUPPLY LINE TO THE CARBURETOR WILL NOT HAVE TO BE DISCONNECTED.
2. Locate that section of the purge vacuum line which travels from the in-line connector at the dash panel side (passenger end) of the valve cover to the carburetor nipple (1984 models only), or to the nipple in the spacer beneath the carburetor (1985, 1986, and 1987 models) - (Figure 2). Remove this portion and discard.

3. 1984 Model Year Vehicles
Locate the 5/16" diameter x 3/8" diameter x 10-1/4" long formed hose, PN 4300463, from kit, PN 4419438, and remove 1-1/4" from the 5/16" diameter end. Assemble this onto the straight nipple of vacuum hose filter, PN 4397925 (Figure 3). Attach the 5/16" diameter x 3/8" diameter x 2-1/2" long formed hose, PN 4300464, to the 90~ nipple of vacuum hose filter, PN 4397925 (Figure 3). Connect the long hose to the in-line connector (at the dash panel passenger side of the valve cover), and the short hose to the carburetor purge nipple (Figure 5).
FIGURE 4 - 1985, 1986 & 1987 MODELS:
4. 1985, 1986, & 1987 Model Year Vehicles
Locate the 5/16" diameter x 3/8" diameter x 10-1/4" long formed hose, PN 4300463, from kit, PN 4419438, and attach onto the straight nipple of vacuum hose filter, PN 4397925 (Figure 4). Obtain a 2-3/4" long piece of 3/8" diameter hose from roll stock, PN 4203421, and assemble onto the 90~ nipple of vacuum hose filter, PN 4397925.
FIGURE 5:
Connect the long hose to the in-line connector (at the dash panel passenger side of the valve cover), and the short hose to the carburetor spacer purge nipple (Figure 5).
NOTE: FORMED HOSE, PN 4300464, WILL NOT BE USED IN THESE APPLICATIONS AND SHOULD BE DISCARDED.
5. Reinstall the fuel reservoir (or regulator) and bracket, and hoses if applicable. Start the engine and check the fuel and vacuum hoses for leaks. Reinstall the air cleaner.

6. Type Authorized Modification Label, PN 4275086 (Figure 6), and attach near the VECI label. On California vehicles clean the existing hose routing label and apply the appropriate hose routing label provided.
