16B Checking For 8 Volt to Distributor

1. With distributor reference pickup coil black electrical connector disconnected, connect a voltmeter between terminal No. 1 of connector and ground, then turn ignition switch to Run position.
2. If voltmeter reads at least 7 volts, replace distributor pickup coil.
CAUTION: Before replacing the pick up check the terminals in the distributor harness connector to make sure they are not spread apart causing a poor connection.
3. If voltmeter does not indicate at least 7 volts, locate and repair open in wire between terminal No. 1 and wiring harness splice.
