14B Fault Code 54 Distributor SYNC Pickup

1. Turn ignition switch to the Off position and disconnect the distributor sync pickup connector.
2. Place the ignition switch to the Run position and connect the negative lead of a digital voltmeter to cavity No. 3 of the harness connector.
3. Connect the positive lead of a digital voltmeter to cavities 1 and 2 of the harness connector.
4. If voltmeter reads at least 7 volts at both terminals, replace the distributor sync pickup.
CAUTION: Before replacing the pickup check the terminals in the harness connectore to make sure they are not spread apart causing a poor connection.
5. If voltmeter reads 0 volts at cavity No. 1 repair wire for open circuit to wiring harness splice.
6. If voltmeter reads 0 volts at cavity No. 2, proceed to Step C.
