14A Checking System For Fault Codes

1. Connect diagnostic read-out tool to engine test connector, then disconnect and reconnect battery quick disconnect.
2. Crank engine for 5 seconds, then turn ignition switch to Run position prior to turning off.
3. Place system in Diagnostic Mode and record all codes.
4. If no fault codes are indicated, 88-12-55, check wiring from terminal No. 6 of [1][2]power module 10-way connector for an open circuit.
5. If no Code 88 is displayed, proceed to Test 15.
6. If code sequence is 88-11-12-55, proceed to Test 16.
7. If code sequence is 88-26-42-55 or 88-27-42-55, proceed to Test 17.
8. If code sequence is 88-11-12-22-23-24-55, sensor ground circuit fault is present. Locate and repair open circuit in wire from red logic module connector terminal No. 25.
9. If code sequence is 88-12-26-55 or 88-12-27-55, replace [1][2]power module.
10. If code sequence is 88-12-54-55 distributor sync pickup circuit, proceed to Test 14, step B.
