13A Fault Code 54 Distributor SYNC Pick-Up

1. Place ignition switch in Off position, then disconnect distributor sync pick-up connector.
2. Place ignition switch in Run position.
3. Connect negative lead of digital voltmeter to terminal No. 3 of distributor sync pick-up electrical connector, then contact voltmeter positive lead to terminals No. 1 and 2 of connector.
4. If voltmeter indicates at least 7 volts at both terminals, replace distributor sync pick-up.
CAUTION: Before replacing the pickup check the terminals in the harness connector to make sure they are not spread apart causing a poor connection.
5. If no voltage is indicates at terminal No. 1, check wiring from terminal No. 1 for an open circuit.
6. If no voltage is indicated at terminal No. 2, proceed to Test 13 step B.
