Visual Inspection

Most problems with the EFI system can usually be traced to poor hose or wiring connections. Before proceeding with system tests or diagnosis, inspect the following:
1. Check harness ground eyelet mounting to intake manifold.
2. Check electrical connectors for proper installation at the following components: charge temperature sensor, throttle body, MAP sensor, detonation sensor, fuel injector, distributor, oxygen sensor, speed sensor, [1][2]power module, purge solenoid, EGR solenoid, water temperature sensor, logic module or SMEC and automatic shut down relay.
3. Check vacuum hose connectors for proper routing and installation at the following components: throttle body, PVC valve and turbocharger, fuel pressure regulator, EGR solenoid, purge solenoid, charcoal canister, EGR system, and MAP sensor.
4. Check fuel pump electrical and hydraulic connections.
5. Check fuse No. 16 for continuity, on 1984 - 87 models.
