SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Timing belt skipping on subject model vehicles may be caused by ice frozen on the timing belt sprocket.
A sheetmetal deflector has been designed which, when attached to the turbo hood inner drain tray, redirects the flow of water rearward of the timing belt sprocket.
PARTS REQUIRED
1 Deflector PN 4386910
3 Screws PN 6032986
REPAIR PROCEDURE
This procedure outlines installation of the deflector to the hood inner drain tray.
1. Raise vehicle hood.
FIGURE 1:
2. Using the deflector as a template, locate it to hood inner panel as indicated in Figure 1..
3. Mark location of screw holes.
4. Using a 1/16" drill bit and motor, drill holes and mount deflector to panel.
CAUTION: USE EXTREME CAUTION NOT TO DRILL INTO THE HOOD OUTER PANEL.
