Fuel Pressure Release: Service and Repair

The EFI fuel system is under a constant pressure of approximately 100 kPa (15 psi). The turbocharged fuel system is under a constant pressure of approximately 380 kPa (53 psi). Before servicing the fuel tank the fuel pressure must be released as follows:

1. Loosen gas cap to release any fuel tank pressure.
2. Remove wiring harness connector from any injector.
3. Ground one injector terminal with a jumper wire.
4. Connect one end of a jumper wire to one injector terminal and touch the other end to the battery positive post for no longer than ten seconds.
5. Remove jumper wires.
6. Continue fuel system service.
