DR-17A Fault Codes 47 or 41-47 Charging System
1. Connect a voltmeter between battery terminals.
2. Connect a jumper wire to a good engine ground.
3. Start engine and note voltmeter reading.
4. Contact other end of jumper wire connected to engine ground to alternator F2 terminal and note voltmeter reading.
NOTE: The alternator field terminals (F1 and F2) of the engine wiring harness on Shelby Chargers and GLH models are interchangeable. Therefore, it will be necessary to identify which one is F1 (ignition switch feed) and which one is F2 (field control to the power module) before performing the test.
5. If voltmeter indicates an increase in voltage reading, proceed to Test 17 step B.
6. If voltmeter does not indicate an increase in voltage reading, proceed to Test 17 step F.
