SYMPTOM/CONDITION


Overheating complaints on subject model vehicles built through

September, 1984, may be due to the coolant reserve system overflow bottle having an internal leak at the "pinch" between the plastic integral tube and the bottle. This air leak prevents coolant from returning to the radiator on cool down. Coolant level in the overflow bottle will be high, while the radiator coolant is low, and can result in an overheating condition.

1 - Coolant Reserve Bottle PN 4266449


REPAIR PROCEDURE


1. Remove battery from vehicle.

2. Disconnect and remove reserve bottle from vehicle.

3. Remove hose, clamp, and cap from old bottle and install on new bottle.

4. Install new coolant reserve bottle.

5. Connect coolant reserve bottle hose to radiator nipple.

6. Reinstall battery.

7. Top off radiator with 50-50 coolant solution.

8. Fill coolant reserve bottle with 50-50 coolant solution, midway between min. and max. marks.
