SYMPTOM/CONDITION
If a rear seat back latch replacement is necessary on a subject model vehicle built prior to MDH 022620, one of the following conditions will be present.
A. The lock-out mechanism is inactive but the rear seat back is equipped with an escutcheon and a knob.
B. Some rear seat back cover carpets did not have a hole, therefore, no escutcheon or knob were installed.
PARTS REQUIRED FOR CONDITION A
1 - Latch (for full seat, or 60 side of 60-40 PN 4317450
split back seat)
1 - Latch (for 40 side of split back seat) PN 4317451
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove rear seat back trim.
2. Remove the four (4) seat back latch attaching screws (2 large and 2 small). Remove latch.
3. Position new seat back latch to seat and install mounting screws. Tighten the two large screws to 95 inch pounds and the two small screws to 12 inch pounds.
4. Retrim seat.
5. Verify proper operation.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Follow steps 1 through 4 of previous repair procedures.
2. Cut hole in seat back cover carpet for lock-out knob installation.

3. Position escutcheon and install and tighten the two screws to 12-15 inch pounds. (Figure 1).
Install Knob and catch assembly.
5. Verify proper operation.
