SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Subject vehicles may experience poor radio reception or noise in FM station mode.
DIAGNOSIS
To determine if noise is due to electronic navigator, turn key to accessory position. Turn radio on and tune in a weak FM station. Push "Time" button on navigator. If radio noise occurs, proceed to repair procedure.
PARTS REQUIRED

2 -Self-Tapping 3/8" Screw PN 9414711
"E" Body New Yorker Front Wheel Drive
1 - Navigator Noise Suppression Package PN 4374086
Consists of:
1 - Navigation Noise Suppression Module PN 4374077
2 - Self-Tapping 3/8" Screw PN 9414711
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Disconnect battery.
2. Remove navigator per service manual procedures.
3. "G" and "E" Body
G-BODY - LASER/DAYTONAFIGURE 1 - Noise Suppression Module:
E-BODY - NEW YORKER FWDFIGURE 2 - Noise Suppression Module:
a. Remove two fasteners (tri-mount) next to connector (Figures 1 and 2).
b. Install male end of Suppression Module, PN 4374075 - "G" body or PN 4374077 "E" body, into navigator.
c. Using two self-tapping screws, PN 9414711 supplied, align mounting bracket on suppression module with holes in navigator (Figures 1 and 2). Install screws.
d. Install navigator body wiring harness into female connector of suppression module.
FIGURE 3 - Noise Suppression Module:
3. "H" Body
a. Remove one screw on side of navigator (Figure 3).
b. Install male end of Suppression Module, PN 4374075, into navigator.
c. Using original navigator screw (discard supplied screws), align suppression module with hole and install screw (Figure 3).
d. With soldering iron (using rosin core solder), position other end of suppression module bracket as indicated in Figure 3 and solder in place.
e. Install navigator body wiring harness into female connector of suppression module.
4. Reinstall navigator per service manual procedures.
5. Reconnect battery.
6. Verify navigator operation and perform diagnosis to assure proper installation.
