The vehicle identification number (V.I.N.) is located on a plate attached to the left top side of the instrument panel and visible through the windshield. (Fig. 1)

All vehicle identification numbers contain 17 digits. The vehicle number is a code which tells destination, brand, sales code, price class, engine displacement, type of body, etc.
* "Check Digit" means a single number or letter X used to verify the accuracy of transcription of vehicle identification number.

ENGINE MODEL STAMPING

The engine model number and engine serial number are stamped onto the cylinder block in the locations indicated in the illustrations. (Fig. 3).
