Report, Parts, Unit Unavailable & Owner Letter
Completion Reporting and ReimbursementWhen a vehicle has been serviced, submit the claim, using the DIAL System or Copy 2 of the Claim Form for our record of completion and for your payment. If neither of these methods is available, the claim may be submitted on a WRO. (See Chapter 6, Warranty Policy and Procedure Manual, for complete claim processing instructions.)
If using a WRO, enter only one claim on it. Fill in the labor operation number and time allowance and identify the claim as "Customer Satisfaction Notification #356 - 2.6L Engine Oil Pump Relief Valve." Do not include other non-recall claims on the same WRO.

CUSTOMER SATISFACTION NOTIFICATION - 2.6L ENGINE OIL PUMP RELIEF VALVE
Dear Chrysler Corporation Vehicle Owner, Your satisfaction with your new vehicle is of prime importance to us. For this reason we are asking you to return this vehicle to your dealer for a special service inspection and - if needed - repair. This service will be provided free of charge.
The condition involves the pressure relief valve in the engine oil pump on the 2.6 L engine. In some cases this valve may become stuck, causing the engine oil pressure to rise above the normal operating level. If not corrected, this could lead to failure of the oil filter and loss of engine oil. Driving even a short distance after loss of the oil could damage the engine. To guard against this problem, please arrange for the service on your vehicle without delay.
Supplies of the necessary repair parts have been shipped to Chrysler-Plymouth and Dodge dealers, who are ready to serve you now. These are the steps to follow:
^ Call your Dodge or Chrysler-Plymouth dealer right away for a service appointment.
^ When taking your vehicle for the service, bring the enclosed form with you and give it to your dealer. The form is for use by the dealer and by Chrysler to record completion of the service.
^ If you have a domestic (North American built) vehicle, the dealer will inspect the engine to see if it has the condition.
- If not, no other service will be needed, and your vehicle will be returned to you. This entire inspection will take less than one-half hour.
- If it does have the condition, the engine must be repaired. This service requires a partial disassembly of the engine, which will take about 4 hours.
^ If you have an imported (Conquest or D-50) vehicle, the engine has the defect condition and must be repaired. Depending on the vehicle model and equipment, the repair will take about 3-1/2 to 4-1/2 hours.
If you have any problem obtaining the service, please contact the Chrysler Zone Office in your area. (It is listed under "Service Assistance" in your Operator's Manual.) The Zone Office will arrange for prompt servicing of your vehicle.
We regret any inconvenience which this action may cause you. However, we believe that this special service will help to ensure your continuing satisfaction with our product. Thank you for your prompt attention to this important matter.
