Underhood (23-19-20-00)
Problem Repair1. Pull hood release. If noise stops, check Tighten hinge nuts. to see if hood hinges are loose by pulling on hood at hinge attachment.
2. If hinges are tight but noise stops when Bend hood up at the locations(s) of hood is opened, check to see if the hood contact.
rear flange touches the cowl drip trough when hood is closed. (Push on the hood at the center rear edge or inspect for rub or wear marks.) Omni, Horizon, Turismo, Charger, Rampage, and Scamp.
3. Push on hood at outboard rear corners. Replace stabilizer if rubber cap is not
If rattle stops check for wear marks on present.

4. Close the hood. Reach through slots in Place foam insulation under leg of cover hood with pencil and touch top of where it contacts plenum.
plastic wiper motor cover. Omni, Horizon, Turismo, Charger, Rampage, and Scamp.
5. Check that the brake booster hose is not Route hose forward of the flow control touching the fire wall (2.2 engine only). valve on manifold.
6. Check to see if fuel lines are vibrating Pull lines forward and place 2-3 layers of on sheetmetal. tape around fuel lines. Isolate with foam
if required.
7. Check to see if the brake line is Bend line away from sheetmetal. vibrating against sheetmetal.
8. Check to see if the head lamp bezels are Tighten screws. loose and vibrating on fender.
9. Check to see if any of the fender bolts Tighten. are loose.
Problem Repair
10. Tap on washer reservoir and listen for Remove reservoir and rotate pump about
metal-to-metal noise. Omni, Horizon, 20~ counterclockwise. Check reservoir
Turismo, Charger, Rampage, and Scamp. for leaks around seal. Reinstall reservoir.
11. Check to see if the wiring harness Route away from air cleaner.
touches the air cleaner (2.2 engine).
12. Check to see if lower hose clamp on Rotate clamp to obtain clearance.
the water valve is touching the air cleaner. (Left side on 2.2 engines with A/C.)
13. Check to see if vacuum actuator on the Place foam on stud.

housing stud (lower left - A/C cars only).
14. If vehicle is equipped with a manual Adjust cable away from air cleaner and
transaxle and no speed control, check re-tie strap down to heater hose.
to see if metal speedo cable connector
touches air cleaner (2.2 engine only).
15. Check H-valve and the evaporator term- Grasp suction line close to H-valve and
ination plate to which it is mounted for move it in direction necessary to provide
contact with sheetmetal. clearance between valve and sheetmetal.
Then place foam around valve to form seal
between valve and sheetmetal, if required.
