SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Subject vehicles may exhibit hard starting at cold ambient temperatures (below 20~F). To improve this condition, a revised starting procedure has been developed (for starting engine below 20~F ambient temperatures).
Depress accelerator pedal one third (1/3) down before cranking and hold during cranking until engine starts. The starting procedure for a flooded engine (depress accelerator pedal to the floor and hold until engine starts) remains unchanged as stated in the 1984 operators manual.
DIAGNOSIS
If this new starting procedure does not correct the hard starting condition, refer to the appropriate Driveability Test Procedure booklet and follow:
^ Visual Inspection procedure for proper hose and electrical connections.
^ Hard Start/Start and Stall/Excessive Idle Speed procedure.
