Service Procedure, Reports & Reimbursement Information

Service Procedure

1. Remove the air cleaner for access to the oxygen sensor (located on the left -- driver's -- side of the engine exhaust manifold near the exhaust pipe attachment flange).

Caution: Care should be taken in the following steps to avoid contact with a hot exhaust manifold.

2. Locate and disconnect the in-line connector at the oxygen sensor lead.

3. Feed a Miller Tool C-4589 over the lead onto the oxygen sensor and remove the sensor from the manifold.

4. Install the provided oxygen sensor with the tool and torque to 27 N-m. (20 ft lbs).

5. Reattach the in-line connector to the new oxygen sensor lead, making sure that the connector is snappped securely into place.

6. Reinstall the air cleaner.


Completion Reporting and Reimbursement

Claims for vehicles which have been serviced must be submitted by DIAL dealers on the DIAL System. Non DIAL dealers may submit WROs. Claims submitted will be used by Chrysler to record recall service completions and provide dealer payments.

Enter only one VIN per claim on a WRO. Fill in the labor operation number and time allowance and write on the WRO "Emisions Recall # 438 -- Oxygen Sensor." Do not enter other service claims on the same WRO.

Use the following labor operation number and time allowance:

Replace oxygen sensor 25438182 0.2 Hour

Add the cost of the oxygen sensor plus the applicable dealer allowance to your claim.

Parts Return

Removed oxygen sensors must be returned to the Warranty Material Return Center.

Vehicle Not Available

If a car is not available for this service for a known reason, let us know by filling out the pre-addressed Vehicle Disposition Form portion of the Owner Recall Notification Form or describe the reason on a postcard and mail to:
