Throttle Body: Service and Repair

1. Release pressure from fuel system as previously described.
2. Disconnect battery ground cable.
3. Disconnect electrical connector at injector and the 6-way connector at throttle body.
4. Remove air cleaner hose, then the throttle cable.
5. If equipped, disconnect speed control and transmission kickdown cables.
6. Remove return spring and disconnect vacuum hoses from throttle body.
7. Loosen fuel inlet and return hose clamps. Wrap a clean towel around each hose, then disconnect the hoses.
8. Remove throttle body attaching screws, then the throttle body.
9. Reverse procedure to install, noting the following:
a. Use a new gasket on throttle body mounting flange. Install gasket with tabs facing forward.
b. Torque throttle body attaching screws to 200 inch lbs.
c. Use new hose clamps on fuel lines and torque clamps to 10 inch lbs.
