SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Fuel pressure regulator pulsing noise can be transmitted through the mounting bracket into the passenger compartment. The noise can be identified as a "blower motor" or "sputtering" sound and is most noticeable at idle.
DIAGNOSIS
Remove the two retaining bolts that mount the pressure regulator bracket to the cowl panel. Isolate bracket from cowl panel. Start engine and listen for noise. If noise no longer exists, proceed to repair procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove the "outlet" hose from the fuel pressure regulator.

2. Remove the bracket-to-firewall attachment screws (if not previously removed for diagnosis) (Figure 1).
3. Remove the fuel pressure regulator from the bracket (discard the old bracket).
4. Remount the regulator in the new bracket with the attachment nut, taking care to make sure that the notch in the regulator is lined up with the indexing tab in the bracket. Tighten to 80-120 inch pounds.

5. Attach the bracket to the firewall, using the supplied attachment screws. Tighten to 30-50 inch pounds (Figure 1).
6. Attach the outlet hose to the regulator making sure that it is properly positioned over the sealing bead. Position the hose clamp and tighten to 8-13 inch pounds.
7. Start the vehicle and inspect the installation for leaks.
