SYMPTOM/CONDITION
Incorrect fuel gauge readings. The fuel gauge will indicate an empty or low fuel level or the gauge will remain near the full mark after fill up.
DIAGNOSIS
This condition is likely the result of the tank level sending unit float or float arm making contact with the fuel return hose.
It is not necessary to replace the fuel level sending unit or fuel tank for this condition. Follow the simple repair procedure described below:
REPAIR PROCEDURE
1. Remove fuel tank sending unit from fuel tank.
2. Disconnect in-tank fuel return hose and reroute the return hose in such a way that it loops over the sending unit and does not interfere with the float or float arm travel.
3. Reinstall fuel tank sending unit.
