This bulletin supersedes Technical Service Bulletin #14-02-84 which should be removed from your files.

The application (conditions) for the vacuum operated secondary (V.O.S.) carburetor system has been expanded as follows..

SYMPTOM/CONDITION

^ Vehicle may exhibit weak acceleration (lack of power, lazy, stretchy acceleration, etc.).

^ Vehicle may exhibit an off idle, part throttle, or wide open throttle sag on acceleration with a cold or warm engine.

DIAGNOSIS

Refer to the appropriate section of the Driveability Test Procedure to insure all systems are operating as designed. If the problem is still present, proceed to install a vacuum operated secondary (V.O.S.) system.

This bulletin only applies to subject vehicles built before late March 1984 (when the V.O.S. system entered production). Inspect vehicle to insure V.O.S. System is not on vehicle before proceding to repair procedure. V.O.S. carburetors have a lock out solenoid located in front near the fuel inlet (Fig. 1).

PARTS REQUIRED

1 - Authorized Modification Label PN 4275086

To determine what parts package is required record:

^ Body style (Reliant 2-door, etc.).

^ Engine code and transaxle application.

^ Air conditioning equipped or heater only.
^ Emission package as determined by vehicle emission control information (VECI) label or hose routing label.

^ With some Omni/Horizon/Rampage models it may be necessary to know if vehicle has standard (heater only) or maximum (A/C or heater only) cooling package. This is determined by inlet and outlet positions. If radiator inlet and outlet are on the same side, its standard cooling. If inlet and outlet are on opposite sides, its maximum cooling.

The parts package may have more than one of the same part due to variations between body styles, etc. (more than one EGR valve, hose routing label, etc.). To simplify applications, body call-out will be used instead of name plate titles.

"K" Body = Aries/Reliant/LeBaron/600 (2-door only)

"L" Body = Omni/Horizon/Charger/Turismo/Rampage (Truck)

See pages 5 through 13 for parts package part number after all necessary information is recorded.
