When replacing a power window lift motor, the following procedure must be followed to assure that the new motor is properly aligned to the arm and sector of the regulator.

It is not necessary to remove the window regulator or detach any window system components when using this procedure.

REPAIR PROCEDURE

1. Remove defective window lift motor, referring to applicable service manual.

2.. Position new motor gear box so that it engages regulator sector teeth.

FIGURE 1 - Power Window Lift Motors:

3. Position motor so that center post of gear box fits into its pilot hole in regulator plate. A slight rotational or rocking movement may be necessary to bring the three motor gear box screw holes into proper position (Figure 1).
NOTE: THE CENTER POST MUST FIT ALL THE WAY THROUGH ITS PILOT HOLE IF SUFFICIENT PINION GEAR-TO-SECTOR GEAR MESH IS TO BE ACHIEVED AND SYSTEM "BIND UP" AVOIDED. AT LEAST 1/8" OF CENTER POST MUST EXTEND THROUGH THE PLATE WHEN THE MOTOR IS CORRECTLY POSITIONED.

4. Install three (3) gear box screws. Torque to 50 to 60 inch pounds (68 to 81 N-m).

NOTE: IF THE DEFECTIVE MOTOR ALSO UTILIZED A TIEDOWN BRACKET SCREW, OMIT THIS SCREW WHEN INSTALLING THE NEW MOTOR AND ADD A FOAM PAD, PN 4280711 OVER THE TIE-DOWN BRACKET HOLE TO PREVENT DOOR SLAM NOISES (REFER TO TECHNICAL SERVICE BULLETIN #23-15-83).
5. Reconnect the pigtail wiring harness connector.

6. Actuate regulator with switch to verify satisfactory operation.

POLICY: Reimbursable within the provisions of the warranty
