SYMPTOM/CONDITION

A condition may exist on subject model vehicles of liquid fuel entering the vapor canister due to overfilling of fuel tank.

The procedure outlined below will reduce the probability of liquid fuel entering the canister should the owner inadvertently overfill the fuel tank.

NOTE: THE FUEL TANK WILL BE AT ITS DESIGNED FULL LEVEL AT THE SECOND AUTOMATIC SHUTOFF OF THE REFUELING NOZZLE.

An overfull condition will occur if the fuel tank is filled (nursed full) past its designed full level.

PARTS REQUIRED

1- 3/16" Hose Connector PN 4104998
1- 16" Length of 3/16" Fuel Hose PN 4203106
(serviced in 50' rolls)
1- Tie Strap PN 6015756

INSTALLATION PROCEDURE

1. Disconnect the fuel tank vent-to-vapor canister hose at the steel chassis line next to the right shock tower. Leave the hose in the harness.

FIGURE 1 - Installation Procedure:

Insert the 3/16" connector, PN 4104998, into open end of vent hose just removed from steel chassis line (Figure 1).

2. Make a 16" long piece of hose from PN 4203106 (serviced in 50' rolls).

Connect this 16" length of fuel hose to the 3/16" connector installed in Step 1 (Figure 1).
3. Loop the hose approximately 360~ (next to the right shock tower) and route behind the wiring harness which is attached to the shock tower. This should maintain an upright position of the hose loop (Figure 1).

Connect the other end of the hose to the steel chassis line.

4. Tie strap the hose to the wiring harness and trim the excess length of strap (Figure 1).
