This bulletin contains cylinder head and block resurfacing limits for all current MMC engines except diesel.
NOTE: DIESEL ENGINE CYLINDER HEADS AND BLOCKS SHOULD NOT BE RESURFACED AS VALVE INTERFERENCE WITH THE PISTONS WILL OCCUR.
FIGURE 1:
Measure the cylinder head and/or cylinder block using a straight edge and feeder gauge as shown in Figure 1. The maximum out-of-flat limits are:
Cylinder Head - 0.2 mm (.008") Cylinder Block - 0.1 mm (.004")
If grinding to correct flatness is necessary, do not exceed the following limits:
Cylinder Head - 0.2 mm (.008") Cylinder Block - 0.1 mm (.004")
If both cylinder head and block must be ground to correct flatness, do not exceed 0.2 mm (.008") combined or valve-to-piston interference could occur.
Overall height of cylinder head (standard value for new part).
G15B (4G15) 107.0 +/- 0.1 mm (4.213 +/- 0.004")
G32B 88.5 +/- 0.1 mm (3.484 +/- 0.004")
G54B (4G54) 90.0 +/- 0.1 mm (3.543 +/- 0.004")
G63B 90.0 +/- 0.1 mm (3.543 +/- 0.004")
4D55 94.0 +/- 0.1 mm (3.701 +/- 0.004")
Overall height of cylinder block (standard value for new part).
G15B (4G15) 256 mm (10.079")
G32B 285.2 mm (11.228")
G54B (4G54) 316 mm (12.441")
