The information on (page 9-69, 1983 and page 9-65, 1984) of the subject Domestic Front Wheel Drive Service Manual is incorrect or the removal and installation procedure of the intermediate shaft.

The manuals state that the oil pump must be removed in order remove or install the intermediate shaft. It is not necessary remove the oil pump in order to remove and install the intermediate shaft.

Please block out the words "oil pump" on pages 9-69 and 9-65, Figure 12, Step 1, of your 1983-1984 Domestic Front Wheel Drive Service Manuals as shown in Figure 1.
