Balance Shaft Chain: Adjustments

Fig. 10 Silent shaft chain adjustment & installation w/engine removed:

1. Refer to Fig. 10 and adjust silent shaft chain tension as follows:
a. Ensure chain guide ``A'' and chain guide "C" mounting screws are tight.
c. Shake oil pump and silent shaft sprockets to collect slack at point ``P.''
d. Adjust position of chain guide ``B'' so when the chain is pulled in direction of arrow ``F,'' clearance between chain guide ``B'' and chain links will be .04 - .14 inch. Tighten chain guide ``B'' mounting screws.
2. Install new gasket on chain case, coat gasket with suitable sealant, then install chain case to block and torque attaching screws to 156 inch lbs.
