Radiator Cooling Fan Motor: Testing and Inspection

DIAGNOSIS
Disconnect wire connector from fan motor terminal, then connect a 14 gauge jumper wire from battery to fan motor terminal. If fan motor does not operate properly, replace fan motor.

1983 - 88 MODELS
1. Disconnect fan motor electrical connector.
2. Remove fan motor, fan and fan shroud or support as an assembly from radiator support.
3. To remove fan blade from motor, support motor and shaft assembly on workbench, then remove fan blade retaining clip. Use caution to prevent bending motor shaft. Do not allow fan blades to become bent or damaged in any way.
4. Reverse procedure to install.
