Cruise Control Switch: Service and Repair

1983 - 87 FRONT WHEEL DRIVE MODELS EXC. 1984 - 87 HORIZON, OMNI, CHARGER & TURISMO
1. Disconnect battery ground cable, then remove lower steering column cover.
2. Remove wiring harness retainer cover from under dashboard.
3. Disconnect speed control switch electrical connector from harness connector.
4. On models with tilt column, remove terminals from insulator using tool No. C-4135 or equivalent.
5. On all models, remove wiper control knob from end of lever.
6. On 1984 - 87 models, remove silencer from lever.
7. On all models, remove speed control switch-to-column attaching screws.
8. On all 1983 models and 1984 - 87 models with tilt column, remove steering wheel.
9. On models with tilt column, attach a flexible guide wire to lower end of speed control switch harness.
10. On models with standard column, remove upper steering column lock cover attaching screws and the cover.
11. On all models, remove switch and harness from steering column. On models with tilt column, pull wires through lock housing between lock plate and side of housing.
12. Reverse procedure to install.
