VEHICLE IDENTIFICATION NUMBER LOCATION

The vehicle identification number (VIN) is located on a plate which is attached to the left top side of the instrument panel and visible through the windshield. (Fig. 1)

All vehicle identification numbers contain 17 digits. The vehicle number is a code which tells destination, brand, sales code, price class, engine displacement, body type, etc.

Stamping Location

The chassis number is stamped on the right top of the fire wall in the engine compartment. (Fig. 2)

VEHICLE SAFETY CERTIFICATION LABEL

The vehicle safety certification label is stuck near the door striker on the driver's side.

This label shows the date of manufacturer numerically, month and year, Gross Vehicle Weight Rating (G.V.W.R.), Gross Axle Weight Rating (G.A.W.R.), -front and -rear, and Vehicle Identification Number (V.I.N.). (Fig. 3)

The name plate is riveted on the fire wall in the engine compartment.

(1) The engine model number is stamped at the right front side on the top edge of the cylinder block as shown in the following. (Figs. 5 and 6)

(2) The engine serial number is stamped near the engine model number as shown in the following. (Figs. 5 and 6)

The transaxle model number is indicated in the chart. The transaxle serial number is stamped on the clutch housing of the transaxle case as shown in the following. (Fig. 7)
