DEALER SERVICE INSTRUCTIONS

EMISSIONS RECALL # 420 -- AIR BLEED CONTROL VALVE


^ The service procedure description and illustration of the CVSCC valve in the attached dealer recall notification letter have been corrected. The valve is black with a molded connector and nylon tubing.

^ These revised dealer service instructions (May, 1990) supersede the previous instructions (April, 1990).

^ If you have already performed any repairs using the original procedure and believe that they may have been done wrong, please contact the owners and arrange to have the vehicles checked and corrected.

^ This recall applies only to 1983 Model Year passenger cars equipped with 2.2L carbureted engines and manual transmissions.

^ Service procedure requirements include:

^ Install air bleed control valve harness.

^ Retard basic engine timing 4 degrees from current VECI label settings.

^ Adjust engine idle speed.

^ Select correct VECI update label from parts package and install it to cover the right portion of the original label.

NOTE: Repairs may be audited by the Environmental Protection Agency. It is essential to complete each section of the service procedure completely and accurately.
