Engine Mount: Service and Repair
When positioning the engine, check driveshaft length as outlined in the ``Front Suspension & Steering Section'' under ``Driveshaft Length, Adjust.'' The engine mounts incorporate slotted bolt holes to permit side-to-side positioning of the engine thereby affecting the length of the driveshaft. Failure to properly position engine may result in extensive damage to the engine.Refer to Figs. 1 through 8 when replacing the engine mounts.
On 1982 - 83 vehicles, the left engine mount is attached with two types of mounting screws. Two of the three are of the pilot type with extended tips. Extended tip screws must be installed in the proper position, Fig. 8. Damage to the shift cover or difficult shifting may occur if screws are incorrectly installed.
