This bulletin supersedes Technical Service Bulletin # 09-06-83 which should be removed from your files. The camshaft seal information contained in the original bulletin has been deleted.

Some 2.2L engines may be built with cylinder heads and camshafts that have oversize journals. When servicing the camshaft or cylinder head on these engines, proper replacement components must be installed. Identification of the oversize components are as follows:

Cylinder Head: Top of bearing caps painted green, and "O/S J" stamped rearward of oil gallery plug on air pump end of head.

Camshaft: Barrel of camshaft painted green
(PN 4293818) and "O/S J" stamped on air pump
end of shaft.

Never install an oversize journal camshaft in a cylinder head with standard size bores or cam cap breakage could result.
