Main Bearing Caps:

Main Bearing Shell Identification:

The crankshaft main bearing caps are not interchangeable and must be marked at removal to insure correct assembly. The crankshaft bearing shells (upper and lower halves) are not interchangeable. The main bearing shells with the lubrication groove must be installed in the block, with the oil holes in the bearing shell and block aligned.

NOTE: Upper and lower Number 3 bearing halves are flanged to carry the crankshaft thrust loads and are NOT interchangeable with any other bearing halves in the engine.
