Rear Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.


1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.





2. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1) and release the connector from the frame.

3. Release the wheel speed sensor harness retainer (2) from the frame.





4. Release the wheel speed sensor harness retainers (1) from the rear axle.





5. Clean the area surrounding the wheel speed sensor of any accumulated dirt and debris.

6. Remove the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).





7. Remove the wheel speed sensor (1) from the rear axle by pulling the sensor straight outward and gently twisting.

8. Plug the wheel speed sensor hole and clean the wheel speed sensor mounting pad of any accumulated debris and corrosion.

Installation Procedure





1. Install the wheel speed sensor (1) to the rear axle.





2. Install the wheel speed sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 9 Nm (80 lb in).





3. Install the wheel speed sensor harness retainers (1) to the rear axle.





4. Install the wheel speed sensor harness retainer (2) to the frame.

5. Install the wheel speed sensor electrical connector retainer to the frame.

6. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1).

7. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
