Electronic Brake Control Module Replacement
Removal Procedure
Caution:
Refer to Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution Brake Fluid Effects on Paint and Electrical Components Caution.
1. Place the ignition switch in the OFF position.
2. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
3. Clean the area surrounding the electronic brake control module (EBCM) and brake pressure modulator valve (BPMV) assembly of any accumulated dirt and debris.
Caution:
Always connect or disconnect the wiring harness connector from the EBCM/EBTCM with the ignition switch in the OFF position. Failure to observe this precaution could result in damage to the EBCM/EBTCM.
4. Disconnect the EBCM electrical connector.
Note:
Do not reuse the EBCM bolts.
5. Remove and discard the EBCM bolts (1).
Note:
Do not force or pry the EBCM from the BPMV.
6. Carefully separate the EBCM (1) from the BPMV.
7. Clean the BPMV sealing area with denatured alcohol and allow to dry.
Installation Procedure
1. Carefully align the EBCM (1) and the brake pressure switch to the BPMV. Do not force the components together.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
2. Install the new EBCM bolts (1) and tighten the bolts in a cross pattern to 3 Nm (27 lb in).
3. Connect the EBCM electrical connector.
4. Program the EBCM and calibrate the brake pressure sensor. Refer to Electronic Brake Control Module Programming and Setup Testing and Inspection.
