Front Wheel Speed Sensor Replacement
Removal Procedure
Warning:
Refer to Brake Dust Warning Brake Dust Warning.
1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.
2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
3. Remove the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JD9, JF3, JF7, JG4) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JD9, JF3, JF7, JG4)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J95) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J95)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J90, J96) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J90, J96).
4. Clean the area surrounding the wheel speed sensor of any accumulated dirt and debris.
5. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1) and release the retainer from the shock absorber tower.
6. Release the wheel speed sensor harness retainers (2) and (3) from the steering knuckle.
7. Remove and discard the wheel speed sensor bolt (1).
8. Remove the wheel speed sensor (1) from the wheel hub and bearing assembly by gently twisting and pulling the sensor straight upward.
Installation Procedure
1. Install a plug into the wheel speed sensor hole in the steering knuckle.
2. Thoroughly clean the wheel speed sensor mounting pad on the steering knuckle of any accumulated dirt, grease, and debris.
3. Remove the wheel speed sensor hole plug.
4. Apply a light coat of high temperature silicone brake lubricant to the wheel speed sensor mounting pad on the steering knuckle.
5. Install the wheel speed sensor (1) to the wheel hub and bearing assembly.
Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.
6. Install the wheel speed sensor bolt (1) and tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb in).
7. Install the wheel speed sensor harness retainers (2) and (3) to the steering knuckle.
8. Install the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1) retainer to the shock absorber tower.
9. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
10. Install the brake rotor. Refer to Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JD9, JF3, JF7, JG4) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (JD9, JF3, JF7, JG4)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J95) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J95)Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J90, J96) Front Brake Rotor Replacement (J90, J96).
11. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation Service and Repair.
12. Perform the Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle.
