Battery Positive Cable Replacement (V6)




Battery Positive Cable Replacement (V6)

Removal Procedure

1. Unbolt and reposition the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Service and Repair.





3. Loosen the positive battery cable bolt (4) in order to disconnect the positive battery cable (3) from the battery.

4. Remove the nut (2) retaining the positive battery cable terminal (1) to the junction block.

5. Remove the positive battery cable clip (5) from the battery tray.

6. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.





7. Remove the positive battery cable retainer (2) to frame bolt (1).





8. Remove the battery terminal nut (3) on the starter solenoid (1).

9. Remove the positive battery cable (2) from the starter solenoid.

10. Lower the vehicle.





11. Reposition the positive battery cable boot (2) at the generator.

12. Remove the generator nut (3).

13. Remove the positive battery cable (1) from the generator.

14. Remove the positive battery cable from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

1. Install the positive battery cable to the vehicle.





2. Install the positive cable (1) to the generator.

Caution:
Refer to Fastener Caution Fastener Caution.

3. Install the generator nut (3) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).

4. Position the positive cable boot (2) at the generator.

5. Raise and support the vehicle.





6. Install the battery positive terminal (2) to the starter solenoid.

7. Install the battery terminal nut (3) onto the starter solenoid battery terminal (1) and tighten to 10 Nm (89 lb in).





8. Install the positive cable retainer (2) to frame bolt (1) and tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb in).

9. Lower the vehicle.





10. Install the positive battery cable (1) to the junction block and tighten to 13 Nm (115 lb in).

11. Install the positive battery cable clip (5) from the battery tray.

12. Install the positive battery cable to the battery and tighten the bolt to 14 Nm (123 lb in).

13. Connect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Service and Repair.

14. Install the coolant recovery reservoir. Refer to Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement Coolant Recovery Reservoir Replacement.
