DTC B0835 00
-
Cruise Control System Active Indicator Circuit
Diagnostic Fault Information
Circuit/System Description
The cruise control switch contains an LED that illuminates to indicate the cruise control system has been switched ON. Voltage is applied through the ON/OFF switch to the LED when the switch is pressed. The body control module (BCM) provides the ground path for the LED through a dedicated LED control circuit. Pressing the switch again opens the switch and the lamp turns OFF.
Conditions for Running the DTC
* The ignition is ON.
* The cruise switch is ON.
Conditions for Setting the DTC
* The BCM detects excessive current in the cruise control indicator signal circuit.
* The above condition is present for greater than 5 seconds.
Actions Taken When the DTC Sets
* The malfunction indicator lamp (MIL) will not illuminate.
* The cruise control system is disabled.
Conditions for Clearing the DTC
* The condition responsible for setting the DTC no longer exists.
* A history DTC will clear after 40 malfunction-free ignition cycles have occurred.

Circuit/System Testing
1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the steering wheel controls switch - left.
2. Ignition ON, verify that a test lamp illuminates between the signal circuit terminal 9 and B+.
• If the test lamp does not illuminate, test the signal circuit for a short to voltage or an open/high resistance. If the circuit tests normal, replace the BCM.
3. If all circuits test normal, test or replace the steering wheel controls switch - left.
