Compressed Natural Gas Fuel Feed Pipe Tee Replacement

Removal Procedure

Warning

Natural gas is highly flammable. In order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury, keep sparks, flames, and smoking materials away from the vehicle while you perform the Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) fuel system service.

Warning

The Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) system operates at pressures up to 24820 kpa (3600 psi). Relieve the CNG fuel system pressure before servicing CNG fuel system components in order to reduce the risk of fire and personal injury.

1. Relieve the compressed natural gas (CNG) fuel system pressure. Refer to Compressed Natural Gas Fuel Pressure Relief (With CH-48027) Service and Repair.

2. Disconnect the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Service and Repair.

3. Raise the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle Service and Repair.

4. Remove the mid ship tank cover. Refer to Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Midship Tank Service and Repair.




5. Disconnect the fuel line fittings at the tee.

6. Remove the fuel line tee from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure





Caution: Refer to Component Fastener Tightening Caution Component Fastener Tightening Caution.

1. Connect the CNG fuel lines to the tee fitting using New O-rings. Lubricate New O-rings with petroleum jelly or equivalent before installation. Tighten the fuel line fitting to 35 Nm (26 lb ft).

2. Open all manual shut-off valves to each fuel tanks.

3. Install ALL the tank cover. Refer to Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Aft Tank Service and Repair , Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Cargo Tank Service and Repair and Compressed Natural Gas Tank Cover Replacement - Midship Tank Service and Repair.

4. Install the negative battery cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection Service and Repair.

5. Start the vehicle and inspect for CNG fuel leaks at the serviced fittings with a commercially available combustible gas detector.
