Diagnostic Instructions

Reverse Gear Signal Circuit

Circuit/System Description

The body control module (BCM) supplies B+ to the rearview camera when the transmission is placed into reverse.

Conditions for Running the DTC

Ignition voltage is between 9-16 volts

Conditions for Setting the DTC

The BCM detects there is a short to ground or an open circuit.

Action Taken When the DTC Sets

Rearview camera is disabled.

Conditions for Clearing

* The DTC will transition to history when the fault is no longer present.

* A history DTC will clear after 100 malfunction-free ignition cycles.

Circuit/System Testing

1. Ignition OFF, disconnect the harness connector at the rearview camera.

2. Ignition ON, park brake applied, transmission in REVERSE, test for B+ between the B+ circuit terminal 3 and ground.

If less than the specified value, test the B+ circuit for a short to ground or an open/high resistance.

3. If all circuits test normal, replace the BCM.

Repair Instructions

Perform the Diagnostic Repair Verification Verification Tests after completing the diagnostic procedure.
